Title case converter

AP, Chicago, APA or sentence case, because they genuinely disagree. Free and no account. Nothing leaves your browser.

Capitalise words of four letters or more. Newsrooms.

What it tells you

  • Four styles, because they disagree

AP capitalises words of four letters or more. Chicago lowercases every preposition regardless of length. APA follows AP. Sentence case capitalises only the first word.

  • First and last word always capitalised

Universal across every style guide, and the rule hand-written implementations most often miss.

  • Shows which style you picked

A single title case button silently chooses a house style for you and gets it wrong for two of the three.

  • Instant, nothing uploaded

    Runs entirely in your browser.

How to use it

  1. 1Pick a styleSentence case for most web writing. AP if you come from a newsroom, Chicago for long-form and books.
  2. 2Paste the headlineAny case. All caps, all lowercase, or a mix.
  3. 3Copy the resultThen use the same style everywhere on the site. Mixed styles across a blog look like several people who never spoke.

Questions people ask

Which title case should I use for a blog?

Sentence case, for most sites. It reads as less shouty, it matches how people write everywhere else online, and it avoids the preposition arguments entirely. Title case suits publications with an existing house style.

Why do title case tools give different answers?

Because the style guides genuinely differ. AP capitalises prepositions of four letters or more, so Between is capitalised. Chicago lowercases all prepositions regardless of length, so between is not. Neither is wrong; a tool with one button has just picked for you.

Does capitalisation affect SEO?

Not for ranking. It affects click-through, which affects everything downstream. A headline in ALL CAPS reads as an advert and is measurably skipped.

What about small words at the start of a headline?

Always capitalised, in every style. The first and last word of a title are capitalised regardless of what they are, which is the rule most hand-rolled implementations forget.
